Leading legal protection and assistance provider ARAG, has extended its accreditation under ISO standards, by adding 22301:2019 to its certifications.

The 22301:2019 standard specifically addresses the security and resilience of an organisation’s Business Continuity Management System to ensure that, as far as possible, they are sufficiently robust to withstand disruption and designed to continually improve with learning.

ARAG achieved ISO 27001:2013 certification, the standard for information security, in 2015 and already had robust business continuity management systems in place, but it was the company’s response to the ongoing pandemic that prompted the decision to pursue 22301 certification.

“Our experience during the pandemic has demonstrated an excellent level of resilience in difficult circumstances,” comments Simon Barrett, Chief Financial Officer at ARAG. “Things like the rapid shift to homeworking went very smoothly but, rather than patting ourselves on the back, we looked at how we could document learnings and improvements.

“ISO 22301:2019 offers the perfect framework to do that and obviously integrates neatly with our Information Security Management System, which is 27001:2013 certified. So, the two systems work in parallel.”

Following the company’s experience in 2020, ARAG initiated the company-wide project in February this year, achieving ISO 22301:2019 certification this month.
