The Chancellor has just announced that the CJRS Furlough Scheme will be extended until the end of March 2021, in view of the slow economic recovery and ongoing uncertainties.

In outline, Mr Sunak said that the Government will continue to pay 80% of a furloughed employee's pay, with the employer having to pay Employer's NICs and the statutory employer pension contribution only.

There will be a review in January 2020 to see if employers should contribute more, depending on circumstances. The Job Retention Bonus and the Job Support Scheme will fall away for now.
