In 2006, six highly experienced market professionals founded ARAG UK. The vision was simple yet revolutionary ‘Every individual should be able to assert his or her rights, not just those who can afford it’

We are now an innovative and highly successful organisation working in partnership with brokers, insurers and solicitors.

We provide an extensive range of Before-the-Event and After-the-Event legal insurance products and services, as well as a portfolio of emergency assistance policies.
Our highly experienced team, shared values and robust product innovation programme has enabled us to grow consistently year on year. Today, the ARAG brand is recognised in our markets as a symbol of quality and trust, and we are looking to the next chapter in the ARAG story.

ARAG plc founded in UK and started trading in August with a full range of Before-the-Event (BTE) and After-the-Event (ATE) products

2007

Launch of Commercial QuickQuote – an online commercial quotation facility and gATEway – an online administration and policy issuing service for solicitors

Acquisition of ULR Knebworth, an established legal expenses intermediary specialising in motor legal protection

2008

Home Emergency product launched in partnership with claims specialist Cunningham Lindsey. BGL Group acquired as the first home emergency scheme

2009

Acquisition of the BTE portfolio of Capita Assistance

Purchase of ATE Ltd, a specialist ATE intermediary

Move to new premises to accommodate large increase in staff numbers and further expansion plans

2010

Voted Best Legal Expenses provider by brokers (Insurance 360 market survey)

Winner of the Claims Technology Award 2010 for the ‘Most Innovative use of Software by an Insurer’

2011

Motor Breakdown product launched in conjunction with claims specialists Call Assist

2012

Winner in the ‘Insurance Provider of the Year’ category at the Personal Injury Awards

2013

Inaugural winner of the Underwriting Services Award

Repeat winner at the Personal Injury Awards

Record profits announced over £5m on a gross premium income of £48m

2014

Further company expansion and office refurbishment doubling existing office space

Winner of the PIA’s ‘Insurance Provider of the Year’ for the third time in succession.

Winner of Underwriting Services Award “Legal Expenses Team of the Year” for the second year and “Underwriting Service Awards Team of the Year” for the first.

International rebrand

Commercial Property Owner policy launched

10 year anniversary and the opening of a London office
