Every other year, ARAG selects a new charity to benefit from all of the great events that our tireless staff throw themselves into, to give something back to our community. This year, the beneficiary is one that is both close to home, and close to the work we do in ensuring that as many people as possible have access to the UK justice system.

Bristol Law Centre is a charity that provides free legal advice and representation in specific areas of social welfare law, helping more than 1,500 people to access the civil justice system, each year, in Bristol and across the South-West of England.

Their mission to improve the lives of people by ensuring they have access to justice when they need it is one that is very close to our hearts, so we’re working closely with them on both their day-to-day objectives as well as fundraising with their staff.

The latest event saw a combined ARAG-Bristol Law Centre team speeding across the water of Bristol’s floating harbour, as part of the annual Dragon Boat Festival organised by Bristol Breakfast Rotary Club for more than twenty years.

It wasn’t the sunniest of days and the competition was fierce, with more than thirty teams taking part, but we managed to stay afloat and complete all our races, missing out on a place in the final but thoroughly enjoying the contest.

Donations for this particular event are being split between the Law Centre and the festival’s headline charity partner, The Green House, another Bristol charity which supports victims of abuse.

If you’d like to make a donation to either the Dragon Boat team or our charity of the year, then you can do so here.
